Abstract

ABSTRACT-The Effectiveness of Health Education on Parental Anxiety and Follow-up Visits for Children with Fever at the Emergency Room of Eka Husada Hospital in Gresik. Thesis, Bachelor of Nursing Program, Majapahit College of Health Sciences, Mojokerto. Advisor (1) Dwiharini Puspitaningsih, RN, MSN, Advisor (2) Nurul Mawaddah, RN, MSN. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of health education on parental anxiety and repeat visits of children with fever at the Eka Husada Gresik Hospital Emergency Room. This was a pre-experimental study. The study population consisted of 42 people (average number of visits by children with fever in the last 3 months), and the sampling technique used was purposive sampling, resulting in a sample of 38 respondents. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Before health education (pre), most parents' anxiety was categorized as severe, involving 34 individuals (89.5%). After health education (post), most parents' anxiety was categorized as mild, involving 35 individuals (90.7%). Repeat visits by parents before health education (pre) were mostly categorized as repeat visits, totaling 33 people (86.8%), and after health education (post), most were categorized as no repeat visits, totaling 27 people (71.1%). The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test obtained a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that health education is effective in reducing parental anxiety and visits. with fever at the Eka Husada Gresik Hospital. It is recommended that health workers regularly provide health education in simple, systematic, and easy to understand language, so that parents can be more calm and able to make quick decisions in handling children In addition, it is recommended that parents are more active in finding health information from valid sources and paying attention to the education provided by medical personnel, so as to reduce anxiety and improve the ability to care for children at home.
