Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by increased blood sugar levels. Diabetes continues to increase every year and is a threat to world health. Education is the main basis for perfect treatment and prevention of DM. One of the strategic steps to increase knowledge and create motivation towards improving health status conditions is through education, in addition to self awareness of the importance of health and family support, so that apart from taking medication and going to the doctor regularly, it is also supported by the 3J diabetes diet, namely type, quantity and schedule. This type of research is pre-experimental with a pre-test and post-test research design on inpatients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus at Bhayangkara Porong Hospital, sampling using a purposive technique and statistical testing using the Wilcoxon test. This research was conducted at Bhayangkara Porong Hospital from July to August 2024. The results of the research before being given education showed low compliance of 19 respondents or 50%. After being given education low compliance decreased to 1 respondents or 2,7%. The results of the research showed differences between before and after education with a p value <0.05, which means that there is an influence of health education on diet compliance in diabetes mellitus patients at Bhayangkara Hospital. porong.
