Abstract
ABSTRACT - Breastfeeding is essential for babies. One factor influencing breastfeeding is a mother's motivation to breastfeed her child. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and family support and motivation for exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum mothers. This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach and a Spearman test. The study population used a purposive sampling technique, collecting data directly from postpartum patients in the postpartum ward at Al Islam HM Mawardi Hospital in Sidoarjo. Data were collected by completing a questionnaire distributed by the researcher. The questionnaire covered breastfeeding self-efficacy, family support, and motivation for exclusive breastfeeding. Ninety-two postpartum mothers with infants in the postpartum ward who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited. The results showed that 60 respondents (65.2%) had high BSE scores, 51 respondents (55.4%) had good family support, and 52 respondents (56.5%) had high Exclusive Breastfeeding Motivation. Spearman's test data showed that Breastfeeding Self Efficacy had a p-value of 0.732 (much greater than 0.05) and Family Support had a p-value of 0.816 (much greater than 0.05). Therefore, there was no relationship between Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy and Family Support and Exclusive Breastfeeding Motivation in postpartum mothers. Based on these results, it was concluded that neither Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy nor Family Support had a significant relationship with exclusive breastfeeding motivation in postpartum mothers in the Postpartum Ward of Al-Islam HM Mawardi Hospital. These findings show that maternal breastfeeding motivation is a complex phenomenon that is not only influenced by psychological factors (self-efficacy) and social factors (family support), but is also greatly influenced by external conditions such as the availability of lactation facilities, workplace policies, information from health workers, economic factors, and culture in the community. Keywords : Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy, Family Support, Motivation, Exclusive Breastfeeding
