Abstract

Abstract - Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain frequently experienced by adolescent girls and can disrupt their academic activities and quality of life. Treatment for dysmenorrhea involves not only pharmacological methods but also non pharmacological methods such as effleurage massage using eucalyptus oil. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of effleurage massage on the intensity of dysmenorrhea in adolescents at SMPN 1 Mojoanyar. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach with a control group design. A sample of 36 adolescent girls experiencing dysmenorrhea was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention group received effleurage massage using eucalyptus oil, while the control group received no treatment. The intensity of dysmenorrhea was measured using the NRS scale. The results showed that in the intervention group, 16 respondents (88.9%) experienced moderate pain, while 17 respondents (94.4%) experienced mild pain. In the control group, 10 respondents (55.6%) experienced moderate pain, while 9 respondents (50%) experienced moderate pain. The Mann–Whitney test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference after the intervention. This means that the effleurage massage technique using eucalyptus oil is effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea. The effleurage massage technique using eucalyptus oil is effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea and can be recommended as an alternative non pharmacological treatment through the Health Unit program.
