Abstract

ABSTRACT Jaundice is a common problem in neonates that occurs due to excessive accumulation of bilirubin in the blood and tissues. The causes of death for newborns 0-6 days in Indonesia include blood disorders / jaundice 1,336 deaths (6.6%). General Research Objectives Quantitative research method with observational type and cross sectional research design, population 89 neonates, sample 45 neonates, sampling technique used is Simple Random Sampling, carried out in July-December in the perinatolgi room of RSUD Grati Pasuruan, data collection techniques using primary and secondary data . The research instrument used a questionnaire, the data analysis research used univariate and bivariate analysis, the data test used the Chi Square test. Based on the results of the study, it showed that of the 45 respondents, babies with low birth weight (<2500 grams) had 9 (20%) neonatal jaundice, a small proportion of low birth weight (<2500 grams) did not have jaundice. %) of babies and normal birth weight were icterus almost half as many as 21 (47%), normal birth weight a small portion were not icterus 30 (22%) babies in the Perinatology unit of RSUD Grati Pasuruan. Based on this study, it is known that there is a significant relationship between infant birth weight and the incidence of neonatal jaundice with a sig 2 tailed value of 0.000 and infants with LBW have a greater chance of being compared to LBW. Many newborns, especially normal born babies (babies with birth weight > 2500 grams) experience jaundice in the first week of life. BBLN with jaundice is usually caused by several factors, namely maternal and neonatal factors. From the results of this study, it is recommended to be able to screen bilirubin levels as early as possible for every baby born, to prevent the occurrence of neonatal jaundice.
