Abstract
ABSTRACT Anxiety is a positive emotion that protects against stressors, but it can become problematic if left untreated and prolonged. If anxiety in the third trimester of pregnancy is not addressed seriously, it can lead to complications and adverse physical and psychological effects, both of which are interrelated and influence the labor process. Therefore, support from family and healthcare professionals is essential. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family and healthcare provider support and anxiety in pregnant women facing the latent phase of first-stage labor. This was a quantitative analytical study using a cross-sectional approach. The population was women in labor in the latent phase of first-stage labor at MNE Anwar Medika General Hospital. A sample of 37 respondents was drawn using purposive sampling. The anxiety instrument used the APAIS (Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale). The study period was from December 2025 to February 2026. Analysis used Spearman's rho. Based on statistical tests, a ρ-value (0.005 <0.05) indicated a correlation between family support and maternal anxiety, with a correlation coefficient of 0.456. A ρ-value (0.001 <0.05) indicated a correlation between health worker support and maternal anxiety, with a correlation coefficient of 0.535. The closest psychological support comes from family. Family support, especially from the husband, is a key factor or a highly effective coping strategy for reducing maternal anxiety during pregnancy and childbirth, thus contributing to a calmer delivery. Health workers can provide support by helping mothers prepare for childbirth, detecting emergencies, and treating complications that may arise during labor. Health workers, especially midwives, are expected to provide comprehensive midwifery care while accompanying mothers through labor, thereby reducing anxiety levels and ensuring a smooth delivery. Keywords: support family, health worker, maternal anxiety
