Abstract

ABSTRACT Childbirth is a series of events that ends with the expulsion of a full-term or near- term baby, followed by the expulsion of the placenta and fetal membranes from the mother. The objective of this study was to determine the determinants associated with the choice of delivery method at Sahabat Hospital, Pasuruan Regency, in 2025. The study used a cross-sectional analytical survey approach. The population of mothers giving birth at Sahabat Hospital, Pasuruan Regency, in 2025 was 1,068. The sample size of 291 mothers was calculated using the sample size formula and drawn using proportional random sampling. The independent variables were the determinants (distance, parity, economic status, maternal indications for delivery), while the independent variable was the choice of delivery method. Data collection used secondary data from medical records. Univariate and bivariate data analysis used the chi-square test. Research Results: Most respondents (281 respondents) had long-distance births, while 149 (51.2%) had parity levels higher than half. The economic status of most respondents was ≥ the regional minimum wage (UMR) (264 respondents, 90.7%). The majority of respondents indicated an indication (285 respondents, 97.9%). The majority of respondents (262 respondents, 90%) chose a caesarean section (CS). Analysis of indications and delivery type selection at Sahabat Hospital, Pasuruan Regency, in 2025, using a chi-square test, revealed a sig value of <0.001, with a p value of <0.05. Conclusion: There is a relationship between indications and delivery type selection at Sahabat Hospital in 2025. Healthcare workers are expected to improve services for pregnant women in their third trimester, encouraging them to choose a delivery method that is safe and beneficial for the health of both mother and baby Keywords: Distance, Parity, Economic Status, and Indications.
