Abstract
ABSTRACT Indicator of success for hemodialysis patients with fluid management is controlling weight gain. A high increase in IDWG can lead to acute and long-term complications. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing education on fluid restriction compliance on interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Quasi-experiment is a method used by researchers by designing a non randomized pre-test - post-test control group design. The sample used was 30 respondents using Total Sampling. Instruments in this study included educational work program units on compliance with fluid intake restrictions and IDWG observation sheets. Statistical analysis with a significance level of p = 0.05 used the paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed that in the experimental group before education, the IDWG value was 4,200 and after education it became 2,933, there was a significant decrease in the patient's Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG), with a p-value of 0.001, then H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected because the test significance value (p-value) was smaller than 0.05 (0.001 <0.05). In the control group before education, the IDWG value was 3,200 and after education, the IDWG value was 2,800, there was no significant decrease in IDWG in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis, a p-value of 0.305 was obtained. Then H1 was rejected and H0 was accepted because the test significance value (p-value) was greater than 0.05 (0.305> 0.05 because they did not receive education on fluid restriction compliance. Research shows a significant influence on providing education on compliance with fluid restrictions on interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) in those undergoing hemodialysis at Anwar Medika Hospital. For further research, further research is needed using a different approach and can increase the number of samples, a wider area regarding the effect of providing fluid restriction education. Keywords : Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG), Compliance with fluid restriction.
