Abstract
Abstract Handling pain in post sectio caesarea patients could be done by pharmacological techniques using drugs and nonpharmacological techniques including benson relaxation therapy or finger holding therapy. But in reality the use of these two relaxation techniques is rarely used. The purpose of this studied was to determine the difference in the intensity of the post-sectio caesarea pain scale between the administration of benson relaxation and finger-holding techniques in the Peristi Ibu Room of RSUD Sidoarjo. The design of this study was pre-experimental with a two group pretest posttest design approach. The independent variables were benson relaxation and finger holding relaxation. The dependent variable is pain intensity. The population was all Post Sectio caesarea patients in the Peristi Ibu Room of RSUD Sidoarjo with an average number of 53 patients per month. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique as many as 48 respondents. Data were collected using pain observation sheets and tested using the paired t test. The results showed that the difference in the mean pretest and posttest scores in the Benson group = 1.417 was lower than the difference in the mean pretest and posttest scores in the finger-hold relaxation group = 1.500. This shows that the finger grip relaxation technique is more effective than Benson relaxation. The results of the paired t test showed that the ρ value of the two experimental groups was < α = 0.05 so that H0 was rejected, so there was a difference in the intensity of the post sectio caesarea pain scale between the administration of benson relaxation and the finger-holding technique in the Peristi Ibu Room RSUD Sidoarjo. Giving benson relaxation and holding fingers can affect the intensity of pain experienced by post section caesarea patients, because these two relaxation techniques can provide a feeling of relaxation and comfort for post section caesarea mothers.
