Abstract

Abstract- Exclusive breastfeeding is giving only breast milk to babies from birth to the age of six months without additional food or other drinks. WHO recommends giving exclusive breastfeeding from birth to six months of age. Lamongan District is one of the districts that has experienced a decrease in the coverage of breastfeeding over a period of 3 years. Deket Subdistrict is one of the areas where exclusive breastfeeding coverage has not increased in the last 3 years. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the relationship between maternal behavior and exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Public Health Center near Lamongan Regency. This study used an analytic observational method with a cross-sectional research design and the number of samples was 45 respondents, taken randomly using simple random sampling. This research was conducted in July 2023. The results of the study showed that most mothers had good knowledge of 29 respondents (64.4%), almost all mothers had a supportive attitude 39 respondents (86.7%) and mothers who gave exclusive breastfeeding 35 respondents (77.8%). Based on the calculation of the Chi-Square statistical test with a significant level value <= 0.05, the results of knowledge (p value 0.014) and attitude (p value 0.000) are obtained, which means smaller than the significant level value (0.014<0.05), (0.000< 0.05) then H0 is rejected, so there is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes of mothers and exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the health center near Lamongan district. Knowledge and attitudes are related to the behavior of breastfeeding mothers so that mothers who have babies aged 6-12 months are expected to be wiser and aware of the importance of giving exclusive breastfeeding to their babies without additional food.
