Abstract
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of mortality and morbidity. Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is a collection of diseases which includes NSTEMI, UAP, STEMI where chest pain is a complaint that is often found in hospitals. Patients who experience chest pain are often found to feel anxious and scared. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences between before and after deep breathing relaxation techniques were used for pain and anxiety in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) heart disease in the ICCU room at RSUD Sidoarjo. This study uses a pre- experimental research design in one group (One Group Pre-test Posttest Design) which reveals cause and effect by involving one group of subjects. The population in this study were all Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients treated at the RSUD Sidoarjo ICCU a total 65 patients per month. The sample in this study were Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients with compost awareness who were first treated at the RSUD Sidoarjo ICCU as many as 20 to 40 samples. This data collection technique uses consecutive sampling. Data collection by filling out questionnaires and interventions. The results of this study indicate that before deep breathing relaxation techniques were used, pain and anxiety had moderate pain categories and mild anxiety categories. And after the deep breathing relaxation technique was carried out, it became a mild pain category and no anxiety category. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a p value <0.05 so deep breathing relaxation technique therapy can significantly reduce pain intensity and anxiety. The majority of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients experienced a decrease in pain and anxiety after deep breathing relaxation techniques were performed. Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients are also expected to apply deep breathing relaxation techniques and hospitals will further increase the application of non- pharmacological deep breathing relaxation techniques. Keywords: ACS, relaxation, pain, anxiety
