Abstract

ABSTRACT - CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis are at risk of experiencing a decrease in hemoglobin (Hb) levels so that it has an impact on quality of life. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between hemoglobin (Hb) levels and the quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at Lavalette Hospital, Malang. The research design used a correlational with a cross sectional. The research population was 325 CKD patients and the research sample was 35 respondents with the determination using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used instruments in the form of medical records of hemoglobin (Hb) levels and quality of life questionnaires (KDQOL-SF). The data analysis method used is the Spearman Rank. The results showed that almost all respondents had low hemoglobin (Hb) levels as many as 33 people (94.3%) and almost all respondents had poor quality of life categories as many as 31 people (88.6%). Test Spearman Rank showed that there was a relationship between hemoglobin (Hb) levels with the quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at Lavalette Hospital, Malang p = (0.000) < (0.05). The results showed that the value of r = 0.710 , which means that there is a positive relationship and the strength of a strong relationship between hemoglobin (Hb) levels and quality of life. This explains that the long-term impact of experiencing CKD causes patients to undergo hemodialysis so that a decrease in hemoglobin (Hb) levels causes a decrease in physical, psychological, social and environmental health as a sign of a decrease in quality of life. Keywords: Chronic Kidney Failure, Hemodialysis, Hemoglobin Level (Hb), Quality of Life.
