Abstract

Abstract - Complaints of insufficient breast milk in postpartum mothers in the first week of birth are common complaints. In some mothers, breast milk production does not increase in the days after birth. Warm compresses on the breasts are the most practical effort that postpartum mothers can do independently, the tools and materials needed are also easy to find and do not require expensive costs. This study aims to determine the effect of breastcare with warm compresses on breast milk production in the NICU Inpatient Room of Sumberglagah Hospital. This study is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental research design using a one group pretest-posttest design. The number of samples was 36 respondents. The study was conducted in July - August 2024. The statistical test used was the paired T-test if the results of the normality test showed that the data was normally distributed, if it was not normally distributed, the Wilcoxon Test was used. The results of the study showed that before the intervention the average breast milk production was 4.83 and after the intervention the average breast milk production was 25.17. Based on the results of the statistical test, the Wilcoxon Statistical Test obtained a p value of <0.001, indicating a change in respondents before the breastcare intervention with an average breast milk production of 4.83 ml and after the breastcare intervention with an average breast milk production of 25.17 ml. Breastcare intervention with warm compresses must be given to postpartum mothers who experience complaints of insufficient breast milk, it cannot only be left to rely on physiological processes.
