Abstract

Abstract - Social isolation is a state of change experienced by clients with schizophrenia. The purpose of the study was to prove the effect of Socialization Group Activity Therapy (TAKS) on the ability of social interaction in schizophrenia patients at the Radjiman Wediodiningrat Hospital. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest. The population in this study were 38 people, a sample of 8 people with sampling using a simple random sampling technique, which was adjusted to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The TAKS instrument uses TAKS Standard Operating Procedures and the measurement of social interaction uses an observation sheet adopted from the Indosesian Nursing Output Standards book (SLKI). Data analysis used the dependent t-Test (paired t-Test). The results of that study showed that the average social interaction ability before being given TAKS was 13.57 which was included in the moderately decreased category, whereas after TAKS the average social interaction ability was 45.14 which was included in the moderately increased category. It can be concluded that there is an influence between Socialization Group Activity Therapy (TAKS) and Social Interaction Ability in schizophrenia patients (p value <0.05). This shows that TAKS can be given as an effort to increase social interaction for schizophrenic patients.
