Abstract

Abstract - One of the factors related to the coping mechanisms of stroke patients is functional ability. This research aims to analyze the relationship ability functional with mechanism coping on patient post- stroke in hospital. Bhayangkara HS Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya . This research uses design analytic correlation with use approach cross sectional . The study population was all post-stroke patients undergoing medical rehabilitation in RS. Bhayangkara HS Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya on month December 2023 as many as 196 people, and as many as 65 people were selected as samples using consecutive sampling based on criteria set by researchers and a certain time duration. The instrument of this research is functional ability observed using the Indeks Barthel while coping mechanisms are observed using Jelowiec Coping Scale . Data analyzed using the Spearman Rho test with sig (p≤0,05). The results showed that the functional ability of post-stroke patients was mostly at the level of mild dependence as many as 38 respondents (58.5%), the coping mechanism of post-stroke patients was almost all adaptive as many as 53 respondents (81.5%). Test results Spearman Rho shows r (0.628) with p value (0.000) so Ho is rejected. So there correlation between functional abilities and coping mechanisms in post-stroke patients. High and low ability functional stroke patients result stroke patients lose chance in actualize himself for acting up in demand in accordance values that exist in society , as well so that influence coping mechanism. Mechanism poor coping Good will support patient interesting self And influence obedience in undergo treatment nor rehabilitation physical and vice versa, patients who have adaptive coping mechanisms will undergo regular physical treatment and rehabilitation . Treatment process stroke patients need support big family . So that care nursing should no only given on patient however also family. Keywords : Coping Mechanism, Functional Ability, Stroke Patients
