Abstract

Abstract Pulmonary TB disease is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This bacteria belongs to the acid-resistant bacteria (BTA) group. Family Health Education TB prevention program is very important to determine the success of treatment and prevent transmission to sufferers and their families.This research design was quantitative using a purposive sampling technique and a sample size of 30 respondents from the families of new patients at the Lung Polytechnic of Bhayangkara Hospital, Surabaya. The research was conducted in March 2024.The research results showed that there were 3 respondents (10%) in the pre-test family health tasks in the inadequate category, 27 respondents (90%) in the sufficient category. After being given health education regarding family health tasks, all pre-test results were in the good category, namely 30 respondents (100%).Based on the calculation of the Wilcoxon statistical test with a significance level of 0.05, this means that if p < 0.05 then H0 is rejected, which means that health education is effective in increasing family health duties. The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test obtained p = 0.000, where the p value < 0.05 means that health education is effective in family health tasks in preventing and transmitting TB disease at the Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya pulmonary clinic.
