Abstract

Abstract - The triage system is important to determine patient treatment. Inappropriate use of triage in accordance with the actual condition of the patient can affect the length of stay (LOS) of patients in the emergency room. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the accuracy of the application of the ESI triage system and LOS in the Emergency Department of Lavalette Hospital Malang. This study used a cross sectional approach method. The sample used was 42 respondents with consecutive sampling technique, which was carried out on February 5-6, 2024. This study used an observation sheet of the accuracy of the application of ESI triage and LOS which was tested using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that 73.8% of nurses performed ESI triage correctly, and 61.9% of patients had a length of stay of more than 4 hours. Rank Spearman correlation test asym sig value 2 tailed (p)=0.002 correlation (r)=0.46, which means there is a significant relationship between the relationship between the accuracy of the application of the ESI triage system with length of stay (LOS) in the Lavalette Hospital Emergency Room, with a moderate correlation value. The results of the study can be used as a guide in making SOPs related to triage in the emergency room, in addition to providing updated and continuous training on triage, as well as providing adequate facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of triage
