Abstract

Abstract-Health conditions can cause a person to have to undergo treatment in an intensive care unit. ICU service activities cause families to have difficulty communicating with patients. The anxiety that occurs originates from the patient's condition, the severity of the disease and inadequate information. This study aims to determine the level of anxiety of the families of patients treated in the ICU at Bhayangkara Pusdik Shabara Porong Hospital. Method The type of research is descriptive with a cross sectional design. The population of this study were families whose members were treated in the ICU at Bhayangkara Pusdik Shabara Porong Hospital. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample size of 76 respondents. Then analyzed using the Spearman Rho test. Data collection using questionnaires. Data analysis in descriptive form. The results of the research showed that the patient's family's anxiety was mostly in the category of severe anxiety, 53 respondents (69.7%), moderate anxiety, 23 respondents (30.3%), mild anxiety, 0 respondents (0%). Conclusion Patient family anxiety in the ICU most are in the severe category. Most respondents said that therapeutic communication from nurses could reduce the patient's family's anxiety or help the family make decisions. Keywords: Anxiety, Family, ICU
