Abstract

Abstract - Neonatal jaundice is a condition in which the skin and sclera become yellow in newborns, due to increased levels of bilirubin in the blood which then causes an increase in bilirubin in the extracellular fluid. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of phototherapy and changes in sleeping position in the neonatal room of RSU Al Islam H.M Mawardi Sidoarjo. This study used an experimental research type by conducting observations before and after the intervention in the neonatal room in February - March 2024. The sampling technique used an accidental technique and a population of 33 babies was obtained. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results of the study showed that the degree of neonatal jaundice before the combination of phototherapy and changes in sleeping position mostly showed grade 4 jaundice in 15 babies (45.5%), the degree of neonatal jaundice after the combination of phototherapy and changes in sleeping position mostly showed grade 1 jaundice in 15 babies (45.5%) and grade 2 in 18 babies (54.5%). From the results of the Wilcoxon test, the p value is 0.000. Because the value of 0.000 is smaller <0.05, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that there is a decrease in the value of the pre-test and post-test of the degree of neonatal jaundice before and after the combination of phototherapy and changes in sleeping position. Based on the results of this study, the combination of phototherapy and changes in sleeping position is very effective in reducing the degree of neonatal jaundice in babies with jaundice. Because there is a significant decrease in the degree of jaundice, it can be seen from the value of the degree of neonatal jaundice before and after the action.
