Abstract

Abstract - Hospitalization is something that worries children. From a child's point of view, hospitalization is a place where play time is lost for children. This study aims determine the effect of puzzle play therapy on anxiety of pre-school children (3-5 years) 4 in inpatient room Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya hospital. The research design used was one group pre post test design which was used to analyze the effect of puzzle play therapy on anxiety of pre-school children (3-5 years) in inpatient room Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya hospital. The sample in this study was some pre-school pediatric patients (3-5 years) in inpatient room Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya hospital who met the inclusion criteria was 60 respondents. variable levels of child anxiety were measured using Facial Image Scale (FIS). Data is then analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed that respondents who experienced hospitalization mostly before being given puzzle therapy experienced mild anxiety, given puzzle therapy mostly became less anxious. The paired t test results obtained a calculated t value of 21.828 with a p value (0.000) so that it was concluded that there was a significant difference in anxiety scores before and after being given puzzle play therapy. So there is an effect of providing puzzle therapy on anxiety Hospitalization of Preschool Children (3-5 Years) in inpatient room Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya hospital. The application of providing educational game tools in hospital services as one of the interventions in providing nursing care to help reduce children's anxiety, especially preschool-age children who experience hospitalization.
