Abstract

Abstract - Diabetes mellitus cannot be cured, but with control through proper self-care management activities can prevent complications. Diet adherence is one of the keys to success in the management of diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-care management on dietary compliance of diabetes mellitus patients in. Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya hospitals. The research method used was Pre-experiment with one group pretest – posttest design research design which was descriptive conducted on 55 diabetes mellitus patients with the research instrument used, namely questionnaires and analyzed with the Wilcoxon Test. The study was conducted from February to March 2024. The results showed that the adherence rate before the intervention was 36 respondents (65.5%) and the compliance rate after the self-care management intervention was 45 respondents (81.8%). Based on the calculation of the Wilcoxon statistical test, it shows that the significance value of 0.682 > 0.05 which means greater than the significant level value, H0 is accepted, so there is no effect of self care management on dietary compliance of diabetes mellitus patients in. Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Surabaya hospitals. So it can be assumed that there is no difference between the variables of pre-intervention diet adherence and post-intervention diet adherence in this study.
