Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of effective contraception is crucial in reducing the risk of unwanted pregnancies; however, the uptake of MKJP remains low due to a lack of knowledge and fear of side effects. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of health video media in improving knowledge and attitudes regarding Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (MKJP) among women of reproductive age in Tambakkalisogo Village, Jabon, Sidoarjo. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental, one group pre-test and post-test design. The study sample consisted of 80 women of reproductive age, selected proportionally from various RT in Tambakkalisogo Village. Data were collected through questionnaires administered before and after the intervention, which involved a health video about MKJP. The results of the study showed that the majority (56%) of respondents had sufficient knowledge before being given health video media and almost all (84%) of respondents had good knowledge after being given health video media. Meanwhile, most (56%) respondents had a positive attitude before being given health video media and most (51%) respondents had a positive attitude after being given health video media The results data analysis using statistical tests showed that video media was effective in increasing knowledge of the use of MKJP with a p value of 0.000 (<0.05), while the results of statistical tests showed that video media was not effective in increasing attitudes towards the use of MKJP with a p value of 0.465 (>0.05). The conclusion of this study is that health video media is effective in increasing knowledge about MKJP and is not effective in increasing attitudes about MKJP in Women of Reproductive Age in Tambakkalisogo Village, Jabon, Sidoarjo. This is to support the use of audio-visual media as an educational tool in public health programs to overcome barriers to contraceptive use among Women of Reproductive Age. This research was expected to be an alternative choice of health intervention for health promoters in conveying information about MKJP. Keywords: Health Video, Knowledge, Attitude, Contraceptive.
