Abstract

Abstract - Obesity was an alarming health problem, especially in children and adolescents. Obesity also poses a risk of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and cancer. Currently in Indonesia 3 out of 10 people are obese or overweight. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity patterns, diet, and screen time with the incidence of obesity in adolescents at MAN 2 Mojokerto Regency. This study used quantitative research, analytic observational method with crossectional approach. The sample size was 83 students from a population of 501 students. The measuring instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis using bivariate analysis using the spearman rank and person test. The results showed that most of the respondents were 16 years old (48.2%), most had female gender (73.5%), most had mild physical activity patterns (54.2%), most had a poor diet (73.5%), most of the respondents were obese (73.4%). The results showed that physical activity patterns (p.value 0.002) and diet (p.value 0.000) had a significant relationship with the incidence of obesity in adolescents. And screen time (p.value 0.999) has no relationship with the incidence of obesity in adolescents. The better the pattern of physical activity and diet of adolescents, the more they avoid obesity. Beliefs gained from knowledge will shape the attitudes and behavior of respondents in carrying out prevention to improve health. It is hoped that further researchers will add other variables related to obesity so that other factors related to factors related to the occurrence of obesity in adolescents can be known.
