Abstract

Abstract - Addiction to watching anime is one of the activities that makes a person infatuated with something to the point of forgetting other important activities. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between parental support and support with watching anime at SMP Negeri 1 Mojoanyar Mojokerto district. This research using quantitative type with cross-sectional method. A sample of 211 was asked to fill out a questionnaire on parental support and addiction to watching anime. The collected data were analyzed using the spearman correlation test. The results showed that less than than half of the respondents had supportive parents (40.5%) and more than half had parents were less supportive (59.5%). For addiction level, a small proportion of respondents consisted of non-viewers (14.8%), more than half of the respondents were at non-problematic (79%), a small proportion were at the moderate level (6.2%), and none of the respondents were at the problematic level. Results spearman correlation test conducted showed that the p value was 0.002<0.05 then “H1 is accepted” meaning, there is a relationship between parental support with addiction to watching anime at SMP Negeri 1 Mojoanyar Mojokerto district. The correlation coefficient of 0.299 indicates a sufficient relationship between the two variables. Anime has a sufficient relationship in adolescents, therefore the presentation of health information by using anime media is more considered to attract adolescents' interest than plain text.
