Abstract

ABSTRACT The Net Death Rate is the death rate ≥ 48 hours after being treated for every 1000 patients who are discharged either alive or dead. While the Gross Death Rate is the general mortality rate for every 1000 patients discharged alive or dead. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of death in patients at Caruban Hospital, Madiun Regency. This study used an observational research design with a case control approach. The population in this study were all patients who underwent hospitalization at Caruban Hospital in the last 6 months from January to June 2024 as many as 1208 people or around ± 204 patients per month. The sample used was 90 people. Data were collected using documentation techniques and analyzed using logistic regression tests. The results showed that together age, gender and education influenced the incidence of death of hospitalized patients in the hospital. In terms of age, young age can prevent someone from dying compared to old age. Young age is 1.5 times stronger to survive than old age. In terms of gender, women are 4.697 times more likely to survive than men. When viewed from education that the higher the education does not determine the occurrence of death in patients during treatment. The results of the logistic regression test show that the type of disease suffered by the patient has no effect on the incidence of death of hospitalized patients in the hospital. In addition, the length of treatment affects the incidence of patient mortality at Caruban Hospital, Madiun Regency, patients who are treated for more than 5 days are able to prevent death 8.93 times greater than those treated for less than 5 days. Individual factors, namely age, gender and education and type of disease are basic factors that affect patient mortality because they affect access to health services, while length of treatment is an institutional factor that affects the quality of service to patients. Keywords: mortality, patient, individual, length of stay, type of disease.
