Abstract

ABSTRACT Anemia in adolescents is a condition in which an adolescent has lower than normal levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, and red blood cells. This can be caused by a deficiency of one or more essential food elements, such as a deficiency of the mineral iron (Fe). Low hemoglobin levels prevent the blood from distributing oxygen to body tissues as needed. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education using video media on the knowledge of adolescent girls about anemia. This study is an experimental study with a pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest design. The population was adolescent girls at MTs Ma'arif Sunan Ampel, Banjaragung Village, Jatirejo District, Mojokerto Regency, a sample size of 73 with a simple random sampling technique, the independent variables in this study were: health education with video media, while the dependent variable was the knowledge of adolescent girls about anemia, the research period was December 2024 - January 2025, the instrument used was a questionnaire, data analysis using the Wilcoxon Sign statistical test. The results of the study before being given health education using video media, almost half of the respondents, namely 31 (42.5%) had poor knowledge about anemia. After being given health education using video media, all respondents, 73 (100%) had good knowledge about anemia. The results of the statistical test using Wilcoxon Sign obtained a P value of 0.001 <0.05, which means that there is an effect of health education with video media on the knowledge of adolescent girls about anemia. It is hoped that health workers can carry out continuous health education as an effort to prevent anemia. Keywords; Health education, knowledge
