Abstract

ABSTRACT Chikungunya fever is an infectious disease caused by the Chikungunya virus which is transmitted through mosquito bites (Arthropod-borne virus). Chikungunya virus belongs to the genus Alphavirus, family Togaviridae. The purpose of this study was to determine the behavior of the community in eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) to reduce the incidence of Chikungunya in Gayaman Village, Mojoanyar District, Mojokerto Regency. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive case study approach. The main informant in this study was the head of the family. Determination of informants in this study using the purposive sampling technique. Additional informants in this study were jumantik cadres, village heads, and puskesmas officers. On indicators of mosquito nest eradication (PSN), researchers need additional informants, namely jumantik cadres to double-check the answers given by the main informants. Research site in Gayaman Village, Mojoanyar District, Mojokerto Regency in May 2021. The results of interviews with informants, most of the people do not know about Qigong disease, its causes, and how to overcome it. The attitude of the community is positive regarding the activities of eradicating mosquito nests, but the actions of the community still tend to be apathetic. This has resulted in a high number of cases occurring in the Gayaman village community. One of the health efforts to control Chikungunya fever is with 3M Plus through the Jumantik 1 House 1 Movement. Efforts to increase public knowledge in eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) to reduce the incidence of Chikungunya need to be carried out regularly, distribution of posters, distribution of flyers, and distribution of leaflets so that people know the importance of eradicating mosquito nests to reduce the incidence of Chikungunya Keywords: Chikungunya, vector, knowledge, attitude, practice.
