Abstract

Abstract – Given the importance of sleep for a baby's development, their sleep needs must be fully met to prevent adverse effects. One method that can be used to meet these needs is baby massage. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of baby massage on sleep quality in babies aged 1 month to 1 year at Fafa Homecare Surabaya. This study used an experimental research plan with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample size was 36 respondents, drawn using a simple random sampling method. The research instrument was an observation sheet on infant sleep quality. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The quality of babies' sleep before being given baby massage was mostly in the poor category, namely 21 respondents (58,3%), while the quality of babies' sleep after being given baby massage was mostly in the good category, namely 27 respondents (75%). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating that baby massage effectively improves sleep quality in infants. After receiving baby massage therapy, 28 respondents experienced improved sleep quality. It is hoped that parents can provide baby massage regularly to their babies so that the baby's sleep quality is good, so that it can optimize the baby's growth and development.
