Abstract

Abstrack - Adherence to insulin therapy is essential for every person with diabetes mellitus, as it plays a crucial role in their health and recovery, particularly in controlling blood sugar levels. This study employed a correlational analytic design with a cross sectional approach. A sample size of 76 respondents was selected using consecutive sampling. The instruments used were medical records and a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Spearman's Rho test and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the majority of respondents were compliant with insulin therapy (42) and 55.3%, while almost half were less compliant (19) and 15 (19.7%) were non-compliant. The Spearman rho test ρ-value for the relationship between motivation and adherence was 0.000, between knowledge and adherence was 0.000, and between family support and motivation was 0.000. Based on the Spearman rho test, the ρ-value was less than 0.05, indicating a relationship between motivation and adherence, knowledge and adherence, and family support. Based on the results of the multivariate test, the largest regression coefficient was motivation, at 0.644. Based on the research results above, it can be concluded that motivation is the most dominant factor influencing insulin adherence. Therefore, the researchers suggest that further research should explore variables that have not yet been studied, such as long-term DM sufferers and support from health workers. Keywords: Adherence, diabetes mellitus, insulin therapy, motivation, knowledge, family support
