Abstract

Abstract - Emergency Department (ED) services are an important indicator of hospital quality, where response time plays a key role in influencing patient satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the relationship between response time in the ED and patient satisfaction at Al Islam H.M. Mawardi General Hospital, Krian, Sidoarjo. The research used a correlational analytic design with a cross sectional approach. A total of 58 respondents were selected using accidental sampling. The independent variable was service response time, while the dependent variable was patient satisfaction. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires, and analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents (58.6%) received a fast response time, while 39.7% experienced a slow response time, and 1.7% very slow. Regarding satisfaction, the majority of respondents (67.2%) expressed satisfaction with the services received, while 32.8% reported dissatisfaction. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between response time and patient satisfaction (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). The direction of the relationship was positive, meaning that the faster the service was provided, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. In conclusion, response time is an important factor affecting patient satisfaction in the ED. Hospitals are advised to maintain rapid service through optimized triage, additional staff during peak hours, and regular evaluations. Nurses are encouraged to improve both clinical skills and communication, while the community is expected to be cooperative in providing information and feedback regarding services.
