Abstract
Abstract - One reason for poor adherence to anti-TB medication in patients with pulmonary TB is the lack of family supervision, even though family members are the closest people who can provide emotional support to patients in completing their treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the role of the family as medication supervisors and the incidence of treatment dropout in pulmonary TB patients at the Trowulan Community Health Center (UPTD) in Mojokerto. The study design was a correlational analytic with a case-control design. The independent variable was the role of the family and the dependent variable was the incidence of treatment dropout. The study population consisted of all 37 pulmonary TB patients at the UPTD in Trowulan Community Health Center. A purposive sampling technique was used to select 34 respondents, divided into two groups: cases and controls. Data were collected using a family role questionnaire and a dropout checklist. Results were tested using the Spearman rho test. The results of the study showed that respondents whose family members acted as medication supervisors in the poor category almost all experienced TB treatment dropout (15 respondents, 78.9%). Respondents whose family members acted as medication supervisors in the good category almost all experienced no TB treatment dropout (13 respondents, 86.7%).The Spearman rho test showed a p-value of 0.000 <α = 0.05. Therefore, H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. This suggests a relationship between the role of family members as medication supervisors and the incidence of TB treatment dropout at the Trowulan Community Health Center (UPTD) in Mojokerto. The positive role of medication supervisors in TB patients can positively impact respondents' motivation to take their TB medication. Keywords : role of family, dropout, pulmonary TB
