Abstract

Abstract - Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg on two or more occasions. Blood pressure status in people with hypertension is determined by self-care management. This research method used correlation with a cross-sectional study design. The sample size for this study was 65 respondents. Consecutive sampling was used as the sampling technique. Self-care management data were collected using a questionnaire, and blood pressure measurements were conducted using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Self-Care Management study found that the majority of respondents were in the "less" category, with 29 respondents representing 44.6%. Fifty-one respondents had mild grade 1 systolic blood pressure, while almost all of the diastolic blood pressure was mild, with 61 respondents having mild grade 1 diastolic blood pressure. There was a significant relationship between self-care management and systolic blood pressure (P-value 0.000 < 0.05), and there was a significant relationship between self-care management and diastolic blood pressure (P-value 0.000 < 0.05). A higher level of self-care management reduces the risk of high blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The higher a person's self-care management, the lower the systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Hospitals are expected to increase health education regarding self-care management for hypertensive patients. The results of this study are expected to be used as an additional reference source and insight in improving self-care management of hypertension sufferers so that it is in a good range by providing interesting interventions to be better. Keywords: Self Care Management, Blood Pressure, Hypertension.
