Abstract

ABSTRACT Based on data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) 2025 shows that more than 1 in 9 adults (20-79 years) live with diabetes, with more than 90% of sufferers of type 2 diabetes. Data from the Surabaya Health Office The number of cases of Diabetes mellitus in Surabaya City is 104,363 people. Ineffective treatment in Diabetes Mellitus patients can cause acute complications. In this study there is one individual attitude that wants to be correlated with medication adherence, namely belief in medication. The study is a correlational study with a cross sectional design. A total of 44 respondents were taken using a purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out using the BMQ Specific questionnaire (belief) and the MMAS-8 questionnaire (adherence). Univariate analysis showed that 61.36% of patients were compliant with treatment and 86.36% of patients believed that certain treatments were necessary to control their condition, and 52.27% of respondents had a good view of the dangers and side effects of drug use. Bivariate analysis using the Spearman correlation test showed a significant relationship between medication beliefs and medication adherence (p = <0.001).
