Abstract

Abstract - Hypertension is a non-communicable disease and a leading cause of death worldwide. Early identification of factors associated with hypertension is crucial to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between smoking habits, medication adherence, sleep quality, and stress levels with hypertension at the East Java Regional Police's Health and Medical Clinic (Biddokkes) Polyclinic. This study used a retrospective, observational, and analytical design. A sample size of 42 respondents was measured at the Biddokkes Polyclinic in August 2025. The results showed that nearly half of the respondents had blood pressure readings in the pre hypertension category. Of those who smoked, nearly half were classified as moderate smokers with moderate adherence. Some respondents had high sleep quality, and most had low stress levels. Based on the Spearman Rho correlation test, smoking habits, medication adherence, sleep quality, and stress levels all had a significance level of ρ = 0.001 (ρ <0.05). Therefore, H0 is rejected. Therefore, there is a significant relationship between smoking habits, medication adherence, sleep quality, and stress levels and hypertension at the East Java Regional Police Health and Medical Clinic. Providing education and counseling regarding knowledge and awareness of factors related to hypertension is crucial as a basis for developing more effective strategies for preventing and treating hypertension. Keywords: smoking habits, medication adherence, sleep quality, stress levels, Hypertension
