Abstract

Abstract - This study aims to analyze social stigma and the motivation of pulmonary TB patients to undergo treatment at the TB Clinic, Al-Irsyad Hospital, Surabaya. This study used a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The respondents were 44 pulmonary TB patients selected using a total sampling technique. The research instruments were a TB social stigma questionnaire adapted from the WHO TB Stigma Assessment Tool and a treatment motivation questionnaire modified from the Motivation for TB Treatment Scale (MTTS). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority of pulmonary TB patients experienced high levels of social stigma (18 respondents (40.9%), and 18 respondents (40.9%) had high motivation to undergo treatment. The Spearman Rank test showed a significant relationship between social stigma and the motivation of pulmonary TB patients to undergo treatment (p=0.001; r=0.843). The higher the social stigma experienced by patients, the higher their motivation to complete treatment. Keywords: Social Stigma, Motivation, Pulmonary TB, Patient.
