Abstract
Abstract Trauma is defined as a physical or psychological injury resulting from sudden external forces or pressure. Such conditions often lead to elevated levels of anxiety among the families of trauma patients. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of emotional support interventions in reducing the anxiety levels of family members of trauma patients in the Emergency Department of Eka Husada Hospital, Gresik. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post test approach. The study population consisted of family members of trauma patients 4 treated in the Emergency Department of Eka Husada Hospital, Gresik. A total of 30 respondents were selected using a Simple Random Sampling (SRS) technique. The intervention was delivered following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of emotional support based on the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Classification (SIKI PPNI), while anxiety levels were measured using the Indonesian Nursing Outcome Classification (SLKI PPNI) observation sheet during both pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings of this study demonstrated that nearly all respondents experienced a reduction in anxiety levels among families of trauma patients following the provision of emotional support interventions, with 25 respondents (83%) showing improvement. The statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant reduction in anxiety. These results suggest that emotional support interventions are significantly effective in alleviating anxiety among families of trauma patients. This intervention is recommended to be integrated into emergency nursing care. Keywords : trauma, anxiety, emotional support interventions
