Abstract
ABSTRACT Infants aged 1-3 months are highly susceptible to digestive disorders because their digestive systems are not yet fully mature. One common disorder is flatulence (bloating) caused by gas buildup in the digestive tract. Data shows that the incidence of flatulence in infants increases annually. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of baby massage on the incidence of flatulence in infants aged 1-3 months at the Amalia Sukari Clinic in Gresik. The study used a quasi-experimental design. A total of 40 infants aged 1-3 months with flatulence who visited the Amalia Sukari Clinic in Gresik between January and February 2026 were sampled. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The results showed that the incidence of flatulence in infants aged 1-3 months was high. namely <1 month 15 (37.5%) babies, male gender namely 22 (55.0%) babies, nutritional formula milk (sufor) namely 27 (67.5%) babies, bottle/pacifier breastfeeding patterns namely 18 (45.0%) babies, healthy health namely 28 (70.0%) babies, incidents before meteorismus 40 (100%) babies, it is known that there is a difference in the incidence of meteorismus before and after the administration of baby massage in babies from 40 babies to 35 (87.5%) babies without meteorismus, 5 (12.5%) babies meteorismus. Bivariate analysis with McNemar using SPSS obtained the results of ρ <0.001 (ρ-value < 0.05) with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05), so it can be concluded that baby massage has a significant effect on the incidence of meteorismus in babies aged 1-3 months. The results of this study can be a reference for research centers in conducting non-pharmacological therapy and educating parents about baby massage techniques as an intervention to reduce the incidence of meteorism in infants, especially those aged 1-3 months who are susceptible to digestive problems.
