Abstract
ABSTRACT Pulmonary TB disease was still one of the health problems in the world. Indonesia was the third country with the highest TB cases in the world. Tubercolosis could increased emotions, disappointment, confusion, regret, and stress in patients. Good self-efficacy in TB patients was needed to increased medication adherence and motivation to recover. The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between stress levels and self-efficacy in TB patients in Sumbersari Public Health Center, Lumajang Regency. The design of this study was analytic observational research with a cross sectional approach. Total sampling amounted to 27 people from January to March 2020. The stress level of TB patients was measured using the Perseived Stress Scale questionnaire (PSS). The self-efficacy of TB patients was measured using general self-efficacy (GSE). TB Pasient filled the quisionere when they control their desease in Sumbersari Public Health Center. Then we tabulated the data, after that we analysed using Spearman Rank with SPSS. The results showed that most of the TB patients were of productive age, most of them were female, almost half of them were farmers and almost half had elementary and junior high school education. Most of the TB patients were at normal stress levels (55.6%). Nearly half of TB patients had adequate self-efficacy (37%). Based on statistical tests with a significance level of α = 0.05, the p value was 0.007. becaused the p value is smaller than the significance level value (0.023 <0.05), there was a relationship between stress levels and self-efficacy in pulmonary tuberculosis patients in the work area of the Sumbersari Public Health Center, Lumajang Regency. If the patient had mild stress, the self-efficacy of TB patients was also good. Self-efficacy could make the patient take medication regularly and had greater motivation to recover. Therefore, nurses should provide interventions to reduce stress in TB patients and increase patient efficacy. Nurses could also use PSS and GSE to assess the level of stress and self-efficacy of TB patients so that they could provide appropriate nursing interventions. Key words: TB patients, stress level, self-efficacy
