Abstract
ABSTRACT The most popular contraceptive is the 3-month injection contraceptive, but it has several side effects such as menstrual cycle disorders. The main side effect experienced by 3-month injection contraceptive acceptors is menstrual cycle disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the duration of use of 3-month injection contraceptives and menstrual cycle disorders in 3-month injection contraceptive acceptors. The research method used was correlation analysis. The sample of this study was 42 3-month injection contraceptive acceptors at TPMB Tuti Sriwahyuni, S.Tr.Keb, Pagerluyung Village, Gedeg District, Mojokerto Regency. Data analysis was carried out using Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that almost all respondents used 3-month injection contraceptives for ≥ 12 months, namely 33 people (78.6%), almost all respondents had menstrual cycle disorders, namely 38 people (90.5%), and most of the menstrual cycle disorders experienced by 3-month injection contraceptive acceptors were amenorrhea, namely 23 people (60.5%). The results of the analysis using the Fisher's Exact Test obtained a p-value = 0.026, so H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a relationship between the duration of use of 3-month injection contraception and menstrual cycle disorders. The longer the use of 3-month injection contraception, the more likely it is to experience amenorrhea. Midwives are expected to provide comprehensive counseling to prospective acceptors to get appropriate contraception. Keywords: 3 month injection contraceptive, duration of use, menstrual disorders
