Abstract

Abstract - Aggressive behavior in adolescents often appears in formal and non formal educational environments. In schools, physical aggression dominates followed by verbal aggression. In boarding schools and orphanages, physical and verbal bullying and ostracization are also common. This has a negative impact on children's ability to establish social relationships and emotional regulation. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The instruments used were aggressive behavior and emotion regulation scales. The sample was 32 children from the Muhammadiyah Orphanage in Mojokerto City using purposive sampling technique. The results showed 19 children with moderate levels of aggressive behavior and 15 children had moderate levels of emotional regulation. Spearman test shows ρ < α which is 0.014, meaning there is a relationship between emotional regulation and aggressive behavior. The value (r) = 0.432 shows a positive moderate relationship, meaning that the higher the emotion regulation, the lower the aggressive behavior. Research shows that aggressive behavior is influenced by complex factors such as family background and parenting patterns. The impact of aggressive behavior includes difficulty establishing social relationships, low tolerance for frustration, and poor academic achievement. A holistic approach that focuses on improving adolescents' emotion regulation is necessary to address aggressive behavior and prevent its long-term negative impacts in the hope of providing effective solutions to prevent and overcome aggression.
