Abstract

Personal hygiene behavior in Indonesia is lacking. The cause is due to the lack of knowledge of women about maintaining good personal hygiene is still lacking. This low level of knowledge and negative attitudes have an impact on personal hygiene behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with personal hygiene behavior in shoe MSMEs in Mojokerto City. This study used a cross-sectional method. The population was all 263 female workers. The sampling technique used Simple random sampling. The sample size was 127 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents had poor knowledge about personal hygiene, namely 67 respondents (52.8%), most respondents had negative attitudes, namely 70 respondents (55.1%), and most respondents had poor personal hygiene behavior, namely 72 respondents (56.7%). The results of the Chi Square test showed a P-value of 0.000 <0.05, meaning that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with poor personal hygiene behavior, while negative attitudes are related to poor personal hygiene behavior, also shown by a P-value of 0.001 <0.05. Knowledge and attitudes are the foundation for someone to practice good personal hygiene. Healthcare workers are expected to promote health to the public, particularly regarding good personal hygiene, by providing education and encouraging the public to be more active in seeking information.
