Abstract

ABSTRACT Neck muscle pain can be experienced for a short time, for example muscle cramps, or continues for a few days, even months or years can bother the sufferer because of fluctuating intensity. Cupping is an alternative treatment option that can be used to treat neck muscle pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cupping on neck muscle pain at the Asyifa Lawang clinic.The type of research that will be used in this study is to use a pre-experimental design method with the type of pre-test and post-test one group design with a sample of 20 neck pain respondents by measuring a pain scale of 1 to 10.The results obtained. From the identification of muscle pain before giving cupping therapy, it was found that almost most of the respondents at the Asyifa Lawang clinic had severe pain as many as 9 respondents (45%). And from the results of the identification of muscle pain after giving cupping therapy, it was found that most of the respondents at the Asyifa Lawang clinic had mild pain as many as 14 respondents (70%).From the test results using the Wilcoxon test, it was found that the p value <0.05, namely p = 0.000, which means that there is a difference in the effectiveness of cupping on neck muscle pain at the Asyifa Lawang clinic.It is hoped that nurses can use cupping as a non-pharmacological intervention in reducing neck muscle pain.
