Abstract

Abstract : Burnout Syndrome is a collection of symptoms due to fatigue, both physically and mentally, which can lead to a lack of concentration and the development of a negative self-concept. Operating room nurses have a complex workload that puts them at risk of burnout syndrome. This study aims to determine the relationship between workload and burnout syndrome experienced by nurses at the surgical installation of Sidoarjo General Hospital. This study used a correlational design with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted on 65 respondents on January 24, 2023 using the proportional random sampling technique using the workload questionnaire and MBI-HSS instruments. The results showed that almost half of the respondents with a moderate workload were 31 respondents (47.7%) and most of the respondents experienced burnout syndrome in the moderate category of 34 respondents (52.3%). The statistical test results showed a significance value of 0.000 which indicated that there was a relationship between workload and burnout syndrome in nurses at the Sidoarjo Hospital surgical installation, with a correlation value of 0.554 which means that the correlation strength is strong and in a positive direction. Based on the research results, it is hoped that the hospital can provide the right solution or management to overcome burnout syndrome due to the high workload.
