Abstract

Abstract Diarrhea is the main cause of malnutrition which can cause death and can cause extraordinary events. Some of the factors that cause diarrheal disease are caused by bacteria, including through contamination of food and drink and or direct contact with sufferers. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between giving MP ASI Instan and the incidence of diarrhea. The research design was correlational with an analytic observational approach. the independent variable is the provision of instant complementary food. the dependent variable is the incidence of diarrhea. The study population was all infants aged 6-12 months who experienced diarrhea in Sidoarjo Hospital with an average number of 80 patients per month. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling technique of 40 respondents. data was collected with an observation sheet and tested with the chi square test. The results showed that almost all of the infants aged 6-12 months who were given MP-ASI Instant had diarrhea as many as 20 respondents (83,350). %) Based on the results of the chi square test, it was found that the value of ρ = 0.000 < α = 0.05 Then H0 was rejected so that there was a relationship between giving MP ASI Instant and the incidence of diarrhea in infants aged 6-12 months in the Mawar Kuning Room at Sidoarjo Hospital. Proper complementary feeding of ASI will help the baby's mother to prevent the baby from experiencing infectious diseases, one of which is diarrhea. Hospital management should be able to determine policy programs for providing information to infant mothers about giving MP-ASI or diarrhea so that mothers can understand more about MP- ASI and can prevent diarrhea in children.
