Abstract

Abstract The concept of triage has not been widely understood by patients, especially families who deliver them. Health workers in the emergency room must be improved, especially education about triage for families with the aim of increasing knowledge, changing attitudes or perceptions and directing the desired behavior and satisfaction. Satisfaction of the patient's family is one of the indicators in the service in the Emergency Department. One of the services that can be provided in increasing satisfaction is the provision of education about triage. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education about triage on the level of family satisfaction of yellow zone patients in the emergency department of Sidoarjo General Hospital. The research design was a quasi-experimental with a posttest-only control design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique and the number of respondents in this study were 106 families of patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patient family satisfaction data was measured by a questionnaire. The research was conducted in February 2023. Data was analyzed using Mann Whitney U. The results showed that the level of satisfaction in the treatment group was that most of the respondents were satisfied, namely 34 respondents (64.2%), and in the control group, most of the respondents were quite satisfied, namely 36 respondents (67.9%). Statistical test results used Mann Whitney U with a significant level value of <0.05 obtained a probability value of (0.002) or (p<α), which means that there was an effect of providing triage education on patient's family satisfaction. Providing triage education can increase the knowledge of the patient's family about sorting patients based on the level of acuteness of the disease in the emergency department with the hope that the patient's family will become more cooperative and the patient's family satisfaction can increase.
