Abstract

Abstract - Picky eater children have different characteristics, namely reluctance to try new foods Picky eaters are children who are picky about food, do not want to eat or only like certain foods, dislike for certain types of food, and have a monotonous appetite, which causes small portions, limited types of food, and potentially affects the growth of children. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship of picky eater behavior with the nutritional status of preschool children in early childhood and RA Yasfalah Awang awang Village Mojosari District Mojokerto. This study is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. The population of 57 preschoolers with the calculation of the sample obtained 32 preschoolers. Sampling technique using non probobality sampling with purporsive sampling technique. This study was conducted in January-July 2024. Data processing techniques use steps such as editing, coding,entry, cleaning, tabulating. Of the 32 respondents showed that 19 children who experienced picky eaters (59.4%), almost half had normal nutritional status (34.4%) and a small percentage had underweight nutritional status (25%). Children with non-picky eater behavior showed almost half the results (40.6%) with a small percentage of children with normal nutritional status (21.9%) and underweight nutritional status (18.1%). Statistical test results obtained  -value of 0.553 (>0.05). From the results showed H1 rejected and H0 deterima, meaning there is no relationship picky eater behavior with the nutritional status of preschool children in early childhood and RA Yasfalah Awang-awang Village Mojosari District Mojokerto. Parents and teachers play an important role in monitoring children who experience picky eaters so that children can balance their nutritional needs even though they do not eat healthy foods every day. A personal approach is also needed in children who experience picky eaters to find out the reasons why children avoid certain foods. Keywords: Preschool ChildrSen, Picky Eater, Nutritional Status
