Abstract
ABSTRACT The postpartum period is a transition that often causes mothers to be in a critical phase of physical and psychological life. Mothers who fail in psychological adjustment can cause stress that increases to postpartum blues. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between husband's support and the occurrence of postpartum blues. The research design used was correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique using 1 consecutive sampling obtained a sample of 34 respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire for both the independent variable of husband's support and the dependent variable of postpartum blues events, then the data was analyzed using the chi square test with a significance level of 0.05. The research data showed that (79.4%) mothers received support from their husbands and (64.7%) mothers did not experience postpartum blues. The results of the analysis test obtained a p-value (0.70) (α <0.05) which means that husband's support is not related to the occurrence of postpartum blues in postpartum mothers. There are many factors that influence the condition of postpartum blues, in mothers giving birth, husband’s support plays an important role both emotionally, financially and others including health information. So it is hoped that there will be cooperation between both parties so that husband’s support is more positive so that the risk of blues is lower. In addition, self-coping management in mothers must be improved to help minimize the occurrence of blues after childbirth. Keywords: Husband’s support, Postpartum blues incident, postpartum mothers.
