Abstract

Abstract: A Primary Survey (Initial Assessment) is an effort undertaken to preserve life when a patient or victim experiences a life-threatening situation. Nurses demonstrate compassion when encountering clients requiring a primary survey (initial assessment). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses' knowledge of the primary survey and its implementation in the Emergency Department (ER) of AL-ISLAM H.M. MAWARDI KRIAN RSU, SIDOARJO, in 2025. The research design in this study was a correlational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The results of the study, conducted on 30 respondents, showed that nurses' knowledge in the primary survey (initial assessment) in the Emergency Department (ER) of AL-ISLAM H.M. MAWARDI KRIAN RSU, SIDOARJO, in 2025 indicated that nurses had good knowledge. The statistical test used in this study is an analysis with the Spearman Rho Test. The Spearman Rho test is used to estimate or to evaluate the frequency being investigated or to analyze the results of observations to determine whether there is a significant relationship in the study (Hidayat, 2019). Reading the test results is if 0.850 (α ≤ 0.05), meaning there is a relationship between the level of nurses' knowledge about the implementation of primary assessment if 0.850 (α ≥ 0.05) with an r value of 0.04. This means there is no relationship between the level of nurses' knowledge about the implementation of primary surveys. For future researchers, it is hoped that this study will serve as a reference for conducting further research that focuses on the implementation of primary surveys.
