Abstract
Abstract - Post-operative SC patients must maintain cleanliness in the care of the SC wound. One factor that can influence the cleanliness of wound care is the need for understanding and skills in performing wound care. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of education on post-operative SC wound care for the families of mothers after SC operation. The research method is quantitative with a quasi experimental design using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design approach with Consecutive Sampling technique and the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model. The population in this study consists of the families of postpartum SC patients who have undergone SC surgery for the first time, totaling 65, with a sample size of 56 individuals. This study was analyzed using the T-test if the data were normally distributed; otherwise, the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney U test was used. Prior to the education, there were 18 respondents in the treatment group who had a good level of understanding, while in terms of skills, 14 respondents in the treatment group demonstrated skilled levels after receiving wound care education. Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney U test, the significance values obtained for the control understanding variable were p = 0.000, control skills were p = 0.010, intervention understanding were p = 0.000, and intervention skills were p = 0.000. All significance values were less than the level of α = 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the control group and the intervention group. The negative Z values across all variables also indicate that the intervention group had higher results compared to the control group. The researchers suggest that hospitals can provide wound care education by supplying leaflets as complementary education to enhance family knowledge regarding post-operative wound care. Keywords: post-SC operation, education, understanding, skills, post-operative wound care after cesarean section
