Abstract

Abstract - The occurrence of nosocomial infections will certainly cause an increase in morbidity and mortality rates which will also cause other losses such as discomfort for patients, extended length of stay, increased costs of care and treatment which can ultimately create a bad impression on the image of the hospital. This study aims to determine the Relationship between Length of Stay and Nosocomial Infections in Patients at Sumberglagah Regional Hospital. This study uses a quantitative observational analytical research method with a cross-sectional research design. The number of samples is 200 respondents. The researcher used a non-probability sampling technique. The results of the study showed that almost all respondents had a length of stay of <7 days, almost all did not experience nosocomial infections, and almost all had a length of stay of <7 days did not experience nosocomial infections. Based on the results of the Spearman Rank statistical test, a p value of 0.001 <α = 0.05 was obtained with a correlation coefficient (-0.312) indicating a relationship between length of stay and nosocomial infections with a low strength of relationship and also showing the direction of the correlation in the opposite direction, namely the longer the hospitalization, the more nosocomial infections occur. Hospitals must continue to improve and develop health worker resources by focusing more on preventing nosocomial infections based on length of stay. So that improvements can be made to improve services sustainably so that a culture of patient safety can be realized. Keywords: Length of Stay, Nosocomial Infection, Patient Safety
